Tweety Explores Thing 17 - Online Productivity Tools

I explored all the online productivity tools. I had explored bubbl.us before and found the student version of Inspiration easier to use. Of course it is not free. The Zoho site was unavailable. I did not care for Remember the Milk. It was not easy to use. 30 Boxes did not appeal to me. I already use 2 online calendars. LibraryThing was great for someone who reads a lot and enjoys communicating about the books. I was interested in Knowtes since I am a visual-kinesthetic learner and flashcards is one of my learning models. I needed an invitation into the site but did not have one. Perhaps Leslie has one and will invite me in. Any of these sites could be used in your personal or professional life.

  1. Hi Tweety,
I'm in the 23 Things class and I've enjoyed reading your posts.

"WordLearner" is a far superior flashcard website than knowtes.

Not only can you create flashcard wordpacks, but it stores the information in database style. You can enter the word, the translation, a definition (or clue), a sample sentence, and what part of speech is it (direct object, etc). That's five fields. PLUS, it will record AUDIO for each word. And it will generate printables at the click of a mouse from your worddecks or other people's worddecks, like bingo cards, crossword puzzles (with hints), word searches, word jumbles, and matching games. If you have ever tried to create a crossword puzzle from scratch, you know it takes a long time. You can print the printables full page, flashcard size, or European sizes. The site will also create online game versions of these printables. You can also download your "wordpacks" to you mobile phone. You can create student logins so that students can see everything but not edit anything. I can't say enough about it, so I thought I'd share!
